Take a Walk with Wildlife...
PLEASE HELP OUR CAMPAIGN TO CREATE
A COMMUNITY DESIGNED WILDLIFE SCULPTURE TRAIL.
We need your help to secure funding to create a Wildlife Sculpture Trail within our grounds, and reconnect children with nature.
We have been shortlisted for The Peoples Millions grant, and will go head to head with other projects to try and win the money. We need your votes to realise the creation of a wonderful new Wildlife Sculpture Trail which will be community designed and will encourage reconnection with the wild landscape, whilst engaging peoples creativity.
By engaging local people in the design process and with the final hands on trail we hope to encourage and nurture an interest in their surroundings. The process of making chainsaw sculptures will provide schools and visitors the opportunity to watch them being made and we hope this will capture the imagination and engage people with art. With limited opportunities locally of this nature it will make art accessible for all and encourage people to develop new creative skills that they can take forward into their lives.
The trail will become a permanent feature of the museum, offering an inspiring and interactive experience for all visitors, all year around.
‘A new report by the RSPB shockingly reveals that 80% of children in the UK are disconnected from nature. The report, Connecting with Nature, finds that only 21% of children are said to have achieved a level of connection to nature that is ‘realistic and achievable’ for all children. Interestingly, children growing up in towns and cities had a stronger connection than children in rural areas.’

You can only vote for the project on MONDAY 25TH NOVEMBER. For more information and how to vote the Museum and partners have set up a new Facebook page called ‘Walking with Wildlife’ or you can visit the Peoples Millions Website.
