Probation Service Celebrates work with Ryedale Folk Museum!

The probation service in North Yorkshire has worked with the Ryedale Folk Museum over the last six years, with community payback participants helping out at the museum. Below is the link to a new short film that shows some of their fantastic work.

Harrison Project to be featured in BBC Magazine

Stang End Long House was turned into a photographic studio for a special shoot last Saturday. The Harrison Project is to be featured in the September issue of BBC Homes and Antiques Magazine. Stang End was a wonderfully atmospheric setting for items from the Harrison collection - even our amateur photos looked good ! To see the much better professional pictures look out for the magazine which will come out in August.

Quilting & Picnicking, Saturday 18th June

THIS SATURDAY ... The Quilters’ Guild with Levencrafts of Guisborough  10 a.m.  to 4 p.m. Special admission price £4.50 if you show your Guild membership card (£4 if over 65) Non-Guild members standard museum admission £5.50 Mini workshops (£1 each to cover materials), fun activities and demonstrations or bring along your own hand sewing and meet friends. Sunday 12th Join David and Daphne Plum to learn about the traditional craft of Tatting. Watch as they create beautiful yet durable lace using a series of loops and knots.

Morris Men at Museum Sunday

This Sunday June 12th we're expecting about a dozen Classic MG cars at the Museum mid-morning and over lunchtime. Why not drop in and see them.

Adult Learner Week Success!

We recently held our very first adult learner week celebrations, offering free workshops upon entry to the museum. Courses included blacksmithing, mangle print making, proddy hearts, creative embroidery, felt making and much more. We had great interest in all courses and the week ran well. I therefore thought I would share some of the photographs we took during the week.

World War Two Weekend 4th & 5th June

Our popular World War Two weekend is this Saturday and Sunday (4th and 5th June) with Allied Forces, Home Guard and Home Front re-enactments. NEW this year a 1940s dance on Saturday evening - tickets for this dance available at Museum.
