Apprentice 2,III

Hi Everyone, Another week has gone. It has been another busy week and I am so tired!!! I have been in college with David on Tuesday and we were talking about Health and Safety. I found this really interesting. Also my tutor came on Thursday and we were talking about how I am doing at the Museum and college. Also this week I have been trying to complete the float myself. It is kind of confusing but I will get there eventually. I have also been helping David with his Valentine's Flippin Hearts Week Project. This is going fantastically well and I think February half term will be a great success! All in all everything is going well at the Museum and everyone is keeping busy! Emma Young Apprentice

Yesterday I when to College with Emma, and we had a great time. We get the 7:37 train from Malton to York and change over to the Bradford Interchange train. The annoying thing about the train is that we have to wait 20 minutes to get on, but on the positive side we have time to get a bite to eat. Sometimes we go to the Bradford City Training Services and others we go to Bradford College. Yesterday we were at the City Training Services. It is great when we are in Bradford because we are able to socialise with others around us. There are people like us who are doing different courses in the same class as us. We have made some good friends there and are going to make more i should think as there are some new people joining. The different Apprentices there are all to do with creativity, as the City Training Services provide a course for different Apprentices combined together. There are Apprentices doing courses on Gallery Management, Museum Directory, Media Management, Theatrical Manageme...

Apprentice 2, II

Sorry folks for not writing in a long time but I have been busy!! Recently I have been to the Bradford college and, got to know the surroundings around me. Over the past few weeks I have opened up the museum, got to know the different sets of keys and what they are used for, i have also learnt recently, how to open up the actual site with the Master set of keys. When I am at work I have been doing lots of different jobs such as; Front of House (on my own), as well as doing a bit of my own work with college. David has been helping me get up to the same stage as him, so we can help each other and discuss our different opinions. I have been on a 'Customer Care course' and have found it useful and have taken many notes for college. This will be useful for Evidence. - I have also already done a Customer Care course and I achieved the highest standard in my class. David and I cleaned out the office, and you would have to have a strong gut to do it, as it was a hard job. We both felt ...

My name is Emma Boyes and i am the new apprentice at the museum. My first day at Hutton le Hole was great because i really enjoyed meeting new people and everyone who works here are all so friendly. It is such a good atmosphere because if you get stuck at any time there are lots of people around who can help you. Yesterday i helped out by showing some young children round and i found that really enjoyable because the children were so enthusiastic. I enjoyed every minute yesterday and i am sure i will enjoy all the time because there are lots of different activities here and all the staff here are amazing and they are all so friendly!!! David is a great person to work with because he is so funny and it will be good to go to Bradford with him.

Apprentice VI

Well its another year, and another day. Happy New Year to all readers. In the fall of winter the museum was covered in 12 inches of pure snow, which made access to the museum virtualy imposible. Hutton-Le-Hole was a beautiful place when the snow was fresh, but now we all hate how ugly it all looks when it is all slushy, but it helps us; as with the snow out of the way, we can have the public hopefully streaming in. Well here is a catch up on somethings missed out previously: Firstly we have a new boar pig called 'Hamish' who is a softy, but likes the ladies! Secondly there are a few new volunteers towards the Museum - but don't worry we still need more! If you are interested please contact Barbara Bennett at the Museum, ( volunteer@ryedalefolkmuseum.co.uk ) Thirdly we are looking to extend a welcome to car and motorcycle clubs and hoping that they will use us as a venue for their rallies. Scarbourough College have put up at display of their A Level Art work and some of t...
